Reverend Lionel G. Hayes, Jr. was born in Galveston, Texas to the parentage of Lionel Galen Hayes, Sr. and Laverla Ruth (Thrash)
Hayes. He was the first of three children born to this union. He is a Native of Dallas, TX. He received his formal education in the
Dallas Independent School District where he was a 1987 graduate of David W. Carter High School. He attended Prairie View A&M University
from 1987-1992 where he majored in Agriculture Economics. He left student life to work in his field for nine years at Kayla Foods,
Inc. However, he furthered his agricultural studies at Texas A&M Commerce University in 1994-1995. He holds a Bachelor of Science
Degree in Business Administration with a Concentration in Organizational Management. He graduated with honors from Texas College in
Tyler, TX. Rev Hayes answered God’s call to preach in May of 1999. He is the father of daughter Liberty Gale Hayes.

? Rev. Hayes is a 2007 graduate of Phillips School of Theology, at the Interdenominational Theological Center of
Atlanta, Georgia. He holds a Master of Divinity Degree with a Concentration in Homiletics and Worship.

in the 2004-05 edition of the Chancellor’s List-Honoring the Academic Achievement of Americas Outstanding graduate students. Additionally,
he is recognized in the 2006 edition of the Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges for outstanding merit and

of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church. Reverend Hayes was an active member of the Greater North Texas CME Ministerial Alliance
from 2000-2004.
? Rev. Hayes served as pastor of Lula McLane Chapel CME Church in Fort Worth, TX from 2001-2004. He also
served as President of the Board of Christian Education for the Fort Worth District CME church from 2003-2004.

at the Phillips School of Theology from 2004-2007, Rev. Hayes served as a supply pastor of Emanuel Chapel CME Church of West Point,
GA. Reverend Hayes also served on the Committee of Evangelism and Mission of the West Georgia Region Annual Conference of the CME
Church from 2005-2006.
? Rev. Hayes served as pastor of the St. Paul CME Church of Orange, Texas from 2007- 2011 where the church
was completely renovated after being destroyed by Hurricane Ike in 2008 under his leadership. He was a member of the Ministerial Examination
Committee of the Southeast Texas Region Annual Conference from 2011- 2012.
